Ø        DESCRIPTION

FF2992 silicone pavement joint sealant is a one-component, neutral curing silicone sealant, specially designed for filling concrete road with excellent joint movement capability. Accelerated weathering test showed they could stand strong ultraviolet light and cyclic high-low temperature circumstance of pavement field silicone sealant is extruded from packing with sealant gun when used, and it quickly cures at room temperature by reaction with moisture in the air to form a durable, flexible silicone rubber seal.

RESTRICTIONS ON USE

FF2992 Silicone Pavement Joint Sealant should not be used

1        Be used as a structural sealant

2        To building materials that substrates oozing grease, plasticizers or solvents– materials, such as impregnated wood, oil-based caulks, green or partially vulcanized rubber gaskets or tapes, In totally confined spaces without ventilation because sealants need absorb moisture form the air for curing.

3        The surfaces being frosted or wet, the places constantly water or wet throughout the year

4        Paint surface, paint may be peeling or cracking lead to the failure of sealing adhesive

5        the surface temperature of the materials is below 4℃ or higher than 40℃

Ø        USABLE LIFE AND STORAGE

The storage life of this product is 9 months from the manufacture date when the storage temperature is between 4 and 27 and the storage place is cool and dry.

TECHNICAL SERVICE

Adhesion Test

The laboratory of our factory can carry out the adhesion test for clients and give the test report that includes experimental result, recommended products, cleaning methods of the material surface and whether or not to use bottom coating of the material surface, etc.

Compatibility Test

If the accessory like foam strips, double-sided glue strip can not be compatible with silicone rubber, it may cause silicone rubber to turn colors, even lose adhesion. To avoid these problems, we provide services of compatibility test for clients. Clients can send the accessory to us by mail (or other ways), then we will carry out the compatibility test and give the test report.

Pollution Test:

We provide services of pollution test for clients. Clients can send the substrates to us by mail (or other ways), then we will carry out the pollution test and give the test report.

INTERFACE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION METHOD

(1)     Contraction joint: 6mm is the minimum width and 9mm is the optimal width.

(2)     Dilatation joint:

a)    The interface is designed based on the expansion of plate and the displacement of sealant.

Where W is the interface width, D is the displacement of sealant, S is the length of plate size in calculation direction, E is the linear expansion coefficient, △T is the temperature difference between the highest temperature and the lowest temperature, d is the construction deviation, p is the prepared width.

b)    Joint displacement is calculated based the plate size and the interface size.

Where Dj is the joint displacement, S is the length of plate size in calculation direction, E is the linear expansion coefficient, T is the temperature difference between the highest temperature and the lowest temperature, Sj is the joint size.

The displacement of sealant should be greater than that of joint.

(3)     The depth of sealant is about half of the width and between 6mm and 13mm.

CONSTRUCTION METHOD

(1)     Cleaning interface

a)      Cutting and cleaning: In order to confirm that the width and depth of joints meet with the design request, the interface should be secondary cutting before the construction of sealant.

Cleaning: clean the residual and old sealant in joints. The hardly cleared and old sealant can be cleaned by solvent, sand blast or mechanical grinding. The cutting method, which cuts the joint to more width joint, should be used if the old sealant can’t be neatly cleaned. The bonding quality between the joint and sealant should be firstly checked if the silicone sealant was used in old joint. A thin sealant could be reserved in the joint if the bonding quality was good. New and old sealants will bind to a whole body, which will not affect the bonding quality if the congener sealants are used.

b)      Cleaning by high pressure water column: Clean the residual impurity in joint by high pressure water column.

c)      Drying: The interface is dried in natural condition.

d)     Cleaning by sand blast: it should confirm whether the interface is clear and firm before the construction of sealant. The personnel can touch the interface by fingers. The interface hasn’t been clear and firm if there is still attached powdery material in joint. The sand blast can be used to jet the interface until no powdery material is peeled which can increase the bonding area and improve the bonding quality.

e)      Cleaning by high pressure air: Clean the fine sand and the residual impurity in joint by high pressure (at least 90psi or 0.62MPa) air without oil and water vapor.

(2)     Installation of backing materials: the installation of backing materials and the construction of sealant should be carried out as soon as possible after the cleaning of interface was finished. It is recommended that the joint are cleaned by high pressure air again before the installation of backing materials if the backing materials can’t be install immediately.

(3)     Primary coat: A primary coat for few basis materials must be used to improve the bonding quality between sealant and interface in sometimes. The advice and process given by the manufacturer should be used.

(4)     Construction sealant:

a)     In order to confirm that the joint will be filled with sealant and there is no air bubble in the sealant, the injecting nozzle should be put into the joint.

b)    The injecting nozzle should be pushed into the joint at 45 degree and not be continually dragged.

c)     In order to avoid that the construction speed is unstable and the sealant in joint is excessive or insufficient, the construction should be continuous for a given length interface.

d)    The construction speed can be controlled by adjusting the pressure of construction machine, the size and shape of injecting nozzle.

e)     In order to confirm that the sealant and the interface is full bonding, a suitable tool should be used to extrude the sealant from up to down. The shape of sealant surface should be concave. The concave surface should be lower 7~9mm than the road surface and increased with the increment of interface width.

f)     In order to confirm that there is no bubbling and bulge, the filled results of interface should be checked after the construction sealant is finished. The processing method should be carried out immediately if there is unsuitable.

QUALITY CONTROL

In order to confirm that the selected sealant and process are suitable to the joints of road surface, the on-site adhesive test should be carried out before and after the construction.

(1)     Before construction

A small area operation should be firstly carried out on a typical joint design (about 1m) based on the selected sealant and process. The bonding quality between sealant and interface were checked based on the on-site adhesive test after the sealant completely solidified. The selected sealant and process should be checked again if there were unsuitable phenomena of the bonding quality or backing materials. The tested joint length may be increased based on the practical situation for the strict road surface (30mm is recommend for the tested joint length of the airport pavement).

(2)     After construction

At least one on-site adhesive test should be carried out for every different joint design after the sealant completely solidified. The tested length and times should be increased for the strict road surface. One test can be carried out for every 15 boxes of sealant for the airport pavement.

ON-SITE ADHESIVE TEST METHOD

(1)   Cut off the sealant vertical the joint length

(2)   Cut the sealant along the two sizes of interface, the cutting distance is about 80mm.

(3)   A horizontal mark was given at 20mm of sealant.

(4)   Closely nip the sealant (above the 20mm mark) and pull it at vertical direction of road surface.

(5)   The bonding quality is eligible if the mark at 20mm of sealant is extended to 60~80mm and there is no interface damage between the sealant and joint.

(6)   The adhesive test should be carried out for singleness material if the sealant contacts with different materials. A gap about 20mm was cut on the preparing test material. A gap which was greater than 20mm (about 30~35mm) was cut on the non-test material. Then the extended test was carried out at vertical direction of road surface.

Ø        SAFETY TIPS

The products have no toxicity after fully cured, but before curing they should be avoided contacting with eyes. If contacted with eyes, please rinse with plenty of water and see the doctor. Ensure that it is beyond the reach of children before curing. The products in the curing process will produce butanone oxime, so attention should be paid to ventilation in the construction and curing area, in case of too a negative impact on human beings from butanone oxime.

Ø        ASSURANCE

Our factory will issue product warranty after purchase and determination of the construction units and projects.

Ø        MAINTENANCE

Not required to maintain normally. If the seam of sealant container is damaged, seal the damaged part with sealant after removing the accumulated dirt with solvent.
